CAFE 16
Come In(side)
.Café 16 is moving inside Herzl 16, and from now on, our mornings start here
Every day from 10:00 a.m. to noon (and until 4:00 p.m. on Sundays), you’ll find good coffee, matcha of course, pastries and sandwiches, and light breakfasts for those with a little more time.
At lunchtime, the pace changes: the kitchen comes to life and Herzl 16’s service begins.
On weekends, we’re all about brunch. Café 16 is open on Fridays and Saturdays too, when the morning stretches into an Israeli-European brunch. The menu includes some of the dishes that have become icons here: our famous bread pudding with matcha ice cream, avocado toast with sunny-side-up eggs, Rothschild toast, and a some more old and new favourites.
Now that we’ve come inside, it’s worth taking a look around. Herzl 16 is housed in one of Tel Aviv’s most storied buildings, once known as Pensak Passage or “The Elevator House.” In 2025, it turned 100.
Designed by Yehuda Magidovitch, Tel Aviv’s first city engineer, the building’s eclectic style brought Europe and the East together. Even then, it was an attempt to imagine what the new Hebrew city might look like.
A century later, we still love that meeting of old and new. We honour what was here before us while continuing to fill it with new life. In the mornings, too.
you’ll immediately understand what we’re talking about.
